Angharad & Lewys’ Pembrokeshire Wedding Photography

Every wedding has its own rhythm, and this one was pure joy. This Pembrokeshire wedding photography story follows Angharad & Lewys on a warm, laughter‑filled summer day at Gellifawr. Although I’m a North Yorkshire–based wedding photographer, I love to travel for days like this—the change of scenery keeps me inspired and feeds back into the way I capture stories closer to home. From relaxed morning moments to confetti, golden‑hour portraits and a lively evening, here’s a little look at how the day unfolded.

From the morning preparations through to the evening celebrations, their day was filled with moments that were a joy to capture. Angharad and Lewys’ wedding in Pembrokeshire was a day of laughter, fun, and of course, breathtaking moments.

Pembrokeshire Wedding Photography: Morning Moments

From the moment I arrived at the venue, I was greeted with gorgeous light that made everything look even more magical. As a photographer, I thrive in these conditions, where the golden sun creates a dream-like glow. It’s like nature’s own filter, bringing out the best in every shot.

As the day unfolded, I focused on capturing those candid moments that truly showcase the love and happiness of the couple and their guests. I believe that the best photos are the ones that capture the emotions and genuine interactions, rather than stiff, posed shots.

Being fast and efficient is crucial in wedding photography. There are so many special moments happening simultaneously, and I want to make sure I don’t miss a single one. By staying on my toes and ready to shoot, I ensure that each moment is beautifully captured forever.

One of the things I pride myself on is being unobtrusive. I understand the importance of letting the day unfold naturally. I want the bride, groom, and their loved ones to enjoy each moment fully without feeling like they’re constantly being watched.

Above all, my goal as a wedding photographer is to capture the essence of the day. I want to freeze those precious moments in time so that the bride and groom can relive the magic of their special day whenever they look at their photos. It’s an honor to be a part of such a significant event in people’s lives.

Immediately after the wedding breakfast, something truly memorable happened. An “Italian” chef surprised everyone by bursting into a spontaneous rendition of “That’s Amore.” It was a beautiful and unexpected moment that added an extra layer of joy to the day. And of course, I was there to capture every smile, laugh, and singalong.

As I reflect on Angharad and Lewys’ wedding day, I can’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to witness and document such love and happiness. It was a day filled with sunshine, laughter, and beautiful memories.

One thing I like to do is to create something unusual, and for this wedding, my creative juices went towards a composite, showing the bride’s nephew blowing bubbles and, in the bubbles, I placed images of the bride and groom.

Venue: Gellifawr Woodland Retreat
I highly recommend the hosts of the event at Gellifawr Woodland Retreat to utilise the exceptional facilities available at the venue. Located on Pontfaen Rd, Fishguard SA65 9TX, the retreat offers a picturesque and serene setting for gatherings of 30 to 250 guests. With its stunning woodland surroundings, it provides a unique and enchanting experience for any wedding occasion.

Being part of Angharad & Lewys’ celebrations reminded me why I love what I do: real people, real emotions, captured in a way that feels natural and timeless.

My Favourite Moments

One of the joys of wedding photography is capturing those unscripted, in-between moments — the laughter, the children at play, and the natural interactions that tell the true story of the day. Angharad and Lewys’ wedding had plenty of these, and they became some of my favourite frames from the afternoon.

As guests mingled in the beautiful grounds of Gellifawr Woodland Retreat, I was able to step back and quietly document the candid side of the celebrations. Children played happily on the lawns, soaking up the sunshine and adding their own sense of fun and energy to the day. Those light-hearted moments balanced perfectly with the elegance of the ceremony and portraits.

One image I particularly love shows a fellow photographer capturing the couple through the trees — a reminder that every wedding day is full of perspectives and fleeting details waiting to be noticed.

Other favourites include candid portraits of the bridal party bathed in golden afternoon light, as well as joyful embraces between family members that spoke volumes about love and connection.

These spontaneous frames are the heartbeat of documentary wedding photography. They’re the images that couples often treasure the most because they bring back not just how the day looked, but how it truly felt.

Why I travel from North Yorkshire for Weddings

Although I’m proudly based in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, I often travel to capture weddings further afield — like this one in Pembrokeshire. For me, it’s not about the miles, it’s about the people. If a couple connects with my style and wants me to tell their story, I’ll happily pack my cameras and make the journey. That said, most of my work is close to home across Harrogate, York, and the Yorkshire Dales — so wherever you’re tying the knot, I’d love to be part of it.

If you’re planning your wedding in North Yorkshire — or anywhere in the UK — and want relaxed, story-driven photography, I’d love to hear about your plans. Find out more about my wedding photography services here, or Get in touch here to start the conversation.
